Father's Day
Father's Day

Celebrate Father’s Day with one of the Yarra Valley’s favourite wineries, Innocent Bystander.

This year, every dad deserves a treat and Innocent Bystander’s 2022 Shiraz Cienna, 2022 Gamay Noir and Limited Release 2021 Pinot Noir provide the perfect present for pop - an affordable luxury that captures the best in every bottle.

Renowned for creating great wines without pretension but with passion, Innocent Bystander’s Shiraz Cienna is a left-of-centre blend that marries Shiraz’s warm spice with Cienna’s juicy berries for the perfect people pleaser.

Limited by name and limited by nature, the Limited Release Pinot Noir made from a single vineyard in the Upper Yarra is bright, complex and utterly delicious, bursting with dark cherry and cranberry flavours. Something special for every special dad.

For those looking for something light and bright that’s perfect to pair with a spicy pork pizza, the 2022 Gamay Noir takes Pinot Noir grapes grown in the Yarra Valley with King Valley Gamay to create a youthful, juicy and lip-smackingly delicious drop.

Innocent Bystander winemaker Geoff Alexander says the Shiraz Cienna is the first time Innocent Bystander has used Cienna grapes in a wine and it has received great feedback from drinkers since it was released at the start of winter.

“Blending Cienna with Shiraz offers a flavour spectrum unlike anything we have produced before,” he says.

“The result is a smooth, rich, red wine with velvety cherry and raspberry aromas and a soft finish that will appeal to those who don’t find traditional red wines to their liking.”

Innocent Bystander’s HQ in picturesque Healesville in the heart of the Yarra Valley is open every day for delicious wine, local produce, artisan pizza and paella served in the restaurant. It’s the perfect place to celebrate Father’s Day.

There are two special offers at Innocent Bystander for Father’s Day this year.

In the restaurant, a Father’s Day special will be offered across the whole weekend: veal shank braised in Shiraz Cienna served with truffle polenta and mushroom ragu – perfectly paired with a glass of Mea Culpa Shiraz.

From Aug 28 until Sept 3, the cellar door will offer 20% off all Innocent Bystander cases (six bottles) and 20% off Mea Culpa cases across the weekend Sept 2-3.

Bookings essential and tables are filling fast.

Known for its mischievous, yet relaxed personality along with producing great wine without pretension, Innocent Bystander has a cult following around the Yarra Valley. They produce premium wines including award-winning Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris and Prosecco plus a selection of lesser-known varietals including Gamay, Tempranillo and Arneis. Innocent Bystander’s philosophy is simple: Make seriously good wine sharable (without the serious).
